What ultimately made me change my mind on Infant Baptism

Image
Due to the Bible being silent on infant baptism, Credo Baptist have to argue from narrative, not instruction. It is a well established fact that baptism is the new circumcision, that is baptism is the sign of the new covenant and circumcision was the sign of the Old covenant. This is stated explicitly by Paul in  Colossians 2:  11-12 where he refers to Baptism as the "circumcision of Christ". Paul also tells the Galatians that they no longer need to receive circumcision. Now  lets look at the cases whereby someone would receive circumcision. Case 1: They become Jewish. If one wished to become Jewish or join the Jewish people they had to be circumcised. One would have to essentially need to convert to Judaism first which requires a profession of faith and him and his household will be circumcised. Case 2: One needs to be born to Jewish parents and they would be circumcised at 8 days. There is a Case 3 but we will get to that later. Now all comprehensive examples of T...

Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Image
The Holy Eucharist or Holy communion is a Christian sacrament that was instituted by Christ before he was betrayed. Christ, in this very important moment says something very peculiar before partaking of the Passover, he blesses the bread and wine and says "Take eat, this is my body" and "this is my blood". Is it his body, is it his blood? Or is it mere bread and wine. There is not a single biblical precedent to believe that Christ in instituting the Supper is speaking purely symbolically here. in fact quite the opposite, we have numerous biblical passages that speak to the actual presence of Christs real body and blood in the reception of the holy Eucharist. Let's take a walk through John 6: John 6:47-51 [47] Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes has eternal life. [48] I am the bread of life. [49] Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. [50] This is the bread that comes down out of heaven, so that anyone may eat from it and not di...

The complete case for Infant Baptism.

Image
Picture this: 2 Pastors, one Presbyterian (Paedobaptist), the other Baptist (Credobaptist) are sent on a mission to different parts of an island where no one has heard of Christianity. They preach the Gospel and people are converted, the Baptist only baptizes those who make a credible profession of faith. While the Presbyterian baptizes only those who make a credible profession of faith as well. We see that that the first generation of converts and baptisms for these 2 missionaries are almost identical, yet one believes in infant baptism and the other does not? Well one easy way to resolve this phenomenon is to realize that, there are currently no children born to Christian parents on the island. Evidently ,the first goal of the missionaries is to convert the people of the island to the faith, not their children. This is the paradigm we see in the book of Acts. The Apostles preach the resurrection of Jesus Christ for the first time in Jerusalem and since there are currently no Christia...

Does Baptism now save us?

Image
Is Baptismal regeneration true or is Baptism a symbolic thing we do to show that we are saved and not a cause of our salvation? Well lets look at a few biblical passages as the Word of God is our foundation of Theology: Titus 3:5  “He  saved  us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the  washing of regeneration  and renewal in the Holy Spirit…” Acts 2:38  “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ  for the forgiveness of your sins ; and you shall  receive the gift of the Holy Spirit . 1 Peter 3:21  Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you , not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience Mark 16:16   “He who believes and is baptized will be   saved ; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” John 3:5 “ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, unless a man is   born of water and of...
